CFD Training

All Campbell Firefighters earn the same levels of training that career firefighters hold, earning their credentials through the Wisconsin Fire Service Education and Training Program. 

Continuing fire service education is encouraged, and specialized department trainings are held at least 3 times per month on the First Tuesday, Saturday after the First Tuesday, and Third Tuesday of the month.  All trainings begin at 7:00 P.M., unless otherwise specified.

Fire Service Training - Fire Service Certification and Funded Professional Development Courses

Medical First Responder: Advanced Skills - This course is designed to prepare the initial respondent in the appropriate emergency care of victims of sudden severe illness or accidents prior to the arrival of an ambulance.

Emergency Medical Technician -
Sometimes referred to as the backbone of the emergency medical services system, the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic is trained in basic life support procedures.

Entry Level Fire Fighter 60 Hours
Skills of the entry level course include:  Firefighter Safety, Fire Behavior, Portable Fire Extinguishers, Personal Protective Clothing, SCBA, Rescue and Search, Hose Basics, Fire Streams, Forcible Entry, Ladder Basics, Ventilation, Salvage and Overhaul Fire Streams, Fire Control Evolution's (Live Fire), and Hazardous Materials.

Fire Fighter I
Certified Firefighter I course includes skills from Entry Level Firefighter as well as Utilities Safety, Ropes and Knots, Rope Rescue, Foam, Standpipes, Fire Cause Determination, Fire Prevention/Public Education, Fire Alarm and Communications, Wildland Fires, and Sprinkler Systems.  For Wisconsin certification at this level the candidate shall have met the requirements defined in Sections 2-1 through 2-3 and the job performance requirements defined in Sections 3-2 through 3-5 of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications and in Chapter 2, Competencies for the First Responder at the Awareness Level of NFPA 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents. Certification is awarded upon the candidate passing written and practical skills exams.

Fire Fighter II
The skills of the Firefighter II course include:  Building Construction, Rescue Tools, Vehicle Extrication, Special Rescue, Salvage and Overhaul, Fire Cause Determination, Automatic Sprinkler Systems, Fire Prevention/Public Fire Education, Water Supply, Hose Testing and Inspection, and Advanced Skills in Hose, Fire Control, Fire Behavior, Fire Streams, and Ladders.  For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I shall meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 4-2 through 4-5 of NFPA 1001 and the requirements defined in Chapter 3, Competencies for the First Responder at the Operational Level of NFPA 472. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Fighter I passing written and practical skills exams.

Driver/Operator-Pumper
These courses deal with instruction in those areas related to the operating of fire apparatus with a heavy emphasis on driving and hydraulics.  The course is a mix of  classroom and hands on instruction, including the use of the student's fire apparatus.  For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter I or II shall meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 2-2 through 3-2 of NFPA 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Fighter I or II passing written and practical skills exams.

Driver/Operator-Aerial
This course deals with the instruction in the operation of fire department aerial apparatus with a strong emphasis on stabilization, and safe operating principles.  This course is a mix of classroom and hands-on instruction using the student's fire department apparatus.  For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Driver/Operator-Pumper shall meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 4-1 through 4-2 of NFPA 1002. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Driver/Operator-Pumper passing written and practical exams.

Fire Inspector I
For Wisconsin certification at this level, the candidate shall have met the requirements defined in Sections 1-3.1 through 1-3.5 and the job performance requirements defined in Sections 3-2 through 3-4 of NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner. Certification is awarded upon the candidate passing written and practical skills exams.

Fire Officer I
This course deals with the instruction in the area to be performed by company officers and uses the "Fire Officer" materials from the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA).  To complete all required objectives of NFPA 1041 two additional National Fire Academy classes are required, Fire Arson detection or Arson Detection for the First Responder and Conducting Basic Fire Inspections.  For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter II shall meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 2-2 through 2-7 of NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Fighter II passing written and practical skills exams.

Fire Officer II
For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Fire Officer I shall meet the requirements of Fire Instructor I as defined in NFPA 1041 Standard of Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications and the job performance requirements defined in Sections 3-2 through 3-7 of NFPA 1021. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Officer I passing written and practical skills exams.

Fire Instructor I
For certification at this level, the Wisconsin Certified Fire Fighter II shall meet the job performance requirements defined in Sections 2-2 through 2-5 of NFPA 1041, Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications. Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Fighter II passing written and practical skills exams.

Certification is awarded upon the Certified Fire Instructor I providing documentation of completion of specialized course and project work.
